Guest Lecture by James Forsher "How to be a Film Detective"

Join us for the guest lecture by filmmaker James Forsher on March 23, 2026, from 5:00–6:00 PM, online via Zoom. The event is open to everyone; no sign-up required.
The discussion will cover what is meant by the term ‘archival footage’ (any footage shot from the 1890’s to yesterday), where to find it and the basic legal issues you should be aware of.
The talk is designed to be interesting and interactive, with students getting a taste of how archival material is involved in almost every aspect of the entertainment industry; from video games to TV shows to feature-films.
In addtion, the talk will reflect on what is going on in the USA now, particularly in relation to the acquisitions and mergers in the media industry, AI, political interference etc.
