Guest Lecture by James Forsher "How to be a Film Detective"

Join us for the guest lecture by filmmaker James Forsher on March 23, 2026, from 5:00–6:00 PM, online via Zoom. The event is open to everyone; no sign-up required.

The talk introduces the fascinating world of archival footage—a term that includes any filmed material shot from the 1890s to the present. Participants will learn what archival footage is, where it can be found, and which basic legal issues should be considered when using it.

Rod MacDonald Concert

Join us for the concert of American folk singer-songwriter Rod MacDonald. Known for his powerful storytelling and distinctive voice, MacDonald has been a respected figure in the folk and acoustic music scene for decades.

The concert takes place on April 16, 2026, at 7:00 PM at the Parkhouse Stadtpark.

The event is organized by Norbert Wally and supported by ÖAG Styria and the Center for Inter-American Studies.

Celebrating the Magic of Numbers

The magic of numbers was celebrated at ÖAG headquarters in Vienna on January 21, 2026: 80 years Austrian-American Society (ÖAG), 250 years signing of the Declaration of Independence, 5 regional ÖAG associations (Salzburg, Tyrol, Carinthia, Upper Austria, and Styria), 300 guests and 2 ambassadors.

PaN-Price 2025

On October 22, 2025, the Austrian-American Society was honored with the annual PaN Prize awarded by Austria’s Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs. Founded in 1946, the Society has long promoted friendship and understanding between Austria and the United States through a wide range of cultural and educational activities.
